Airing of Grievances

Happy Festivus! As a devoted Seinfeld lover, I had to write a blog post about my airing of wishing you all agrievances…and there are so many but I’ll try to keep it to a minimum.  I hope you will join me by adding a few of your grievances in the comment section below! Without further ado…

  1. Instagram…why won’t you hurry up and let us toggle between accounts already?  I hear it’s in beta but enough already.
  2. The entire political season…it’s too long, too full of hyperbole and too many people are trying to become President.  This is not the Miss Universe pageant, folks!
  3. Perfume, Car and Drug commercials…how many of these ads must we be subject to each day? I try not to watch live tv but when I do it’s all perfume, trucks and pharma!
  4. Reclining your seat on airplanes…listen, that 2 inches of recline does not make a difference in how your flight is but it makes a huge difference in how mine is when you are reclined in my lap!
  5. Auto-correct…if my iPhone is so darn smart, then why doesn’t it realize I’m not trying to type DUCK and that I live in the south…I type y’all A LOT…figure it out.
  6. Siri…please just understand the words coming out of mouth!
  7. Public restrooms…why do the cracks between the doors have to be so large and how many different flush mechanisms and automatic sinks do they make in this world?
  8. Credit Card Machines…why isn’t there one universal credit card machine with universal questions? I just want to check out!
  9. Reply-All,  I hate that some people use reply-all to show what a suck up they are.
  10. Netflix…don’t ask me if I’m still watching…I already feel bad enough that I’ve been watching for 3 hours straight.

Bonus From the Hubs: Left Lane is for passing (only) and Turn Lanes are not for merging.

That’s all for now…I hope you have time to air your grievances…it feels good! Merry Christmas, friends.

My Favorite Things 2015

Another year is almost in the books and it’s been a really good year.  I started a business and have been happier than I’ve ever been in a job.  My family has been blessed all year long and my friends are happy and healthy.  Throughout the year, I discover things that I love and cannot live without and I wanted to share them with you.

Passion Planner: I have mentioned this a few times in posts….but this planner makes me passion plannerhappy and it’s super functional and helpful.  I’ve used all types of planners throughout the years and this one is by far my favorite.  This year they became a give one/get one company and that makes me even happier.  If you like a paper planner and you like goal planning and organization…take a look at the Passion Planner.

Fitbit: I’ve tried all sorts of pedometers over the years and finally found the one I really like…the Fitbit One.  In the past, I’ve tried the bracelets but they don’t work for me.  I attach the One to my bra strap and go.  My goal (for now) is to walk 50,000 steps each week and I like checking it everyday to see how close I am to my goal.

bkr Water Bottles: This year we took a trip to Miami and I discovered these water bottles in the elle_500-mlhotel spa.  I have this weird thing where I can’t stand to drink out of metal bottles or glasses (ruins a good Moscow Mule) so I love that these are glass bottles and the colors are fun.

Stainless Steel Sharpie: Who am I kidding…I love all the sharpies in every size and color…but this stainless steel one feels so good in my hand and I feel special when I use it.

GrandeMascara: For over 25 years I’ve been on the hunt for the best mascara–great applicator, not too clumpy, jet black and long lash making…well the search is over! Thanks to my gal, Betina, at Bella Derm…this is the mascara for me.

Lokai Bracelets: I’ve had a lokai bracelet for awhile now…they arelokai_bracelet_red_photo_1 great reminders to find balance in your life and they are great gifts.  Plus they come out with new colors all the time…I got a pink one when I walked in the Greater NYC Komen walk with my bestie, in October.  Red is the current bracelet…I need one!

Nest Candles: Thanks to one of my favorite local stores, Garden Living, I’ve discovered these amazing candles. They have so many great fragrances and they last a long time.  I’m burning my holiday candle right now.

Mitford Books: I was so happy that author, Jan Karon, wrote a new Mitford book…I have been bookreading these books (10 of them) for years and I missed Father Kavanagh so much.  If you haven’t read these books…do yourself a favor and start with book number one today!

Too bad I’m not loaded like Oprah…or I would say “guess what, all of these things are under your chair” but no.  I hope that you will find something new from my list that will bring you joy!

I would love to hear about your favorite things in the comments section.

xoxo

Hello December

HelloDecember!Wow, another year is almost over. It’s true what they say…the years do fly faster when you get older.

December is one of the best months of the year even if it is the last month.  So much to look forward to with holiday fun.  It’s also a great time to reflect on the past year, plan for the new year and set goals.

I’m not a big resolution person but last year I participated in the ‘word of the year’ plan and really enjoyed figuring out my word (flourish) and trying my best to intently live that word all year long. I think I did ok.  I look forward to my new word in 2016.

I love technology as much as the next person and could not live without my Apple products….however, I also love paper.  I love all the beautiful paper.  I especially love a paper planner and this year I found my favorite planner of all time…the Passion Planner.  My new one should be here any day now and I can hardly wait to start planning for the new year.  Filling out a new calendar seriously makes me giddy with excitement!

The new year will bring many changes to my life.  My son will graduate from high school and head to college.  {I’m not ready}  I’m not one of those parents who joyously kick their 18 year old out of the house and start their empty nest life.  I would be happy if my son lived with me forever…but that’s not going to happen.  Like any normal 18 year old…he’s ready to bolt.

This year will be my second year running my own business.  The first year was fun, scary, exhilarating, stressful, and eye opening.  As I would expect my first year on my own to be.  I learned SO MUCH.  I am grateful for all the lessons and knowledge that I learned.  I’m grateful for the people who helped me along the way and for the people I get to work with each day.  The Twiggs Group…full-steam ahead into 2016.

How do you feel about December? Take the time to enjoy each day and reflect on the high notes of 2015.  Start planning for an even better 2016.

xoxo
