AT.com Blog graphicWas this the longest week in the history of longest weeks for anyone else…or just me? So glad it’s Friday! I had a great week of meetings and started work with a new client that I’m really excited about. I hope your week was productive and fun as well.

My favorite activity right now is to watch my tulips….I watched them bud, then bloom and now I’m watching to see how long I will have them.  They are so beautiful.  I love that I planted them in October then wait until spring to reap the reward…it’s a great reward! Spring gives us so many beautiful gifts.

Without further ado…here’s what turned my head this week.

A great reminder to take care of ourselves.

My Favorite Things 2015

Another year is almost in the books and it’s been a really good year.  I started a business and have been happier than I’ve ever been in a job.  My family has been blessed all year long and my friends are happy and healthy.  Throughout the year, I discover things that I love and cannot live without and I wanted to share them with you.

Passion Planner: I have mentioned this a few times in posts….but this planner makes me passion plannerhappy and it’s super functional and helpful.  I’ve used all types of planners throughout the years and this one is by far my favorite.  This year they became a give one/get one company and that makes me even happier.  If you like a paper planner and you like goal planning and organization…take a look at the Passion Planner.

Fitbit: I’ve tried all sorts of pedometers over the years and finally found the one I really like…the Fitbit One.  In the past, I’ve tried the bracelets but they don’t work for me.  I attach the One to my bra strap and go.  My goal (for now) is to walk 50,000 steps each week and I like checking it everyday to see how close I am to my goal.

bkr Water Bottles: This year we took a trip to Miami and I discovered these water bottles in the elle_500-mlhotel spa.  I have this weird thing where I can’t stand to drink out of metal bottles or glasses (ruins a good Moscow Mule) so I love that these are glass bottles and the colors are fun.

Stainless Steel Sharpie: Who am I kidding…I love all the sharpies in every size and color…but this stainless steel one feels so good in my hand and I feel special when I use it.

GrandeMascara: For over 25 years I’ve been on the hunt for the best mascara–great applicator, not too clumpy, jet black and long lash making…well the search is over! Thanks to my gal, Betina, at Bella Derm…this is the mascara for me.

Lokai Bracelets: I’ve had a lokai bracelet for awhile now…they arelokai_bracelet_red_photo_1 great reminders to find balance in your life and they are great gifts.  Plus they come out with new colors all the time…I got a pink one when I walked in the Greater NYC Komen walk with my bestie, in October.  Red is the current bracelet…I need one!

Nest Candles: Thanks to one of my favorite local stores, Garden Living, I’ve discovered these amazing candles. They have so many great fragrances and they last a long time.  I’m burning my holiday candle right now.

Mitford Books: I was so happy that author, Jan Karon, wrote a new Mitford book…I have been bookreading these books (10 of them) for years and I missed Father Kavanagh so much.  If you haven’t read these books…do yourself a favor and start with book number one today!

Too bad I’m not loaded like Oprah…or I would say “guess what, all of these things are under your chair” but no.  I hope that you will find something new from my list that will bring you joy!

I would love to hear about your favorite things in the comments section.

xoxo

Giving Thanks

Give ThanksThanksgiving is upon us and it’s always a great reminder to give thanks in our lives.  I try very hard to give thanks every day of the year but this week really puts it on notice.  I am a huge believer in the power of gratitude and I believe in giving thanks not only for the blessings in our lives but also to give thanks to the people in our lives.  Do we say thank you enough to the people who really matter to us?  I hope we do.  Do we say thank you enough to those people on the peripheral of our lives, postmen, wait staff, nurses, retail clerks, mechanics etc? Probably not, but we need to.

Here are a few ideas for giving thanks:

1. A handwritten note: I cannot say it enough…taking the time to write a note in your own unique and special handwriting, is a gift all by itself.  Throw in beautiful stationery and you’ve really made someone smile.  It doesn’t take a lot of effort to write a note of thanks from the heart.

2. Give a great book: When you read a really good book do you think of the people in your life who would enjoy the book as well?  Then make it a habit to either pass along the book or buy a new one for someone who would really benefit from the message in the book.  I love to give books as gifts.  Include a thankful message inside the book and it’s the perfect way to give thanks.

3. Pay it forward: We were recently in our favorite brunch spot, The Farmer’s Table, and we learned that the folks before us bought our breakfast.  This was such a treat! We decided to keep it going and buy the next person’s breakfast as well.  In line at Starbucks, or drive through at McDonald’s, make yourself happy by paying for the person or car behind you.  When you have a really great wait person…tip a little more, especially during the holidays.  This is a great way to give thanks.

What are your favorite ways to give thanks?
