AT BLOG GRAPHICHello, Friday Friends! I hope you had a good week.  This was my first empty nest week and well…I’m not ready to talk about that yet. ?

I am very excited to start teaching Destination Marketing next week at the University of Arkansas on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Being on campus in the Fall….that is definitely one of my favorite things!

Now, on to the good stuff:

Ways to optimize your computer for productivity…I really need some of these tools!

☞ Need to boost your creativity outside the office? Work from a coffee shop.

☞ Have you ever thought about utilizing a co-working space?

Marketing Pros share their best advice for entrepreneurs.

☞ They had me at Ikea!

And…I’m still not ready to talk about it…but here’s a picture right before we left Spencer at Lyon College.  (sigh)

Jasmine: June NWA PRSA Lunch

Hey guys, it’s Jasmine again.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege to sit in on NWA’s monthly PRSA meeting. Jackie Wolven was the speaker, and she talked about my favorite topic…social media!

Wolven manages the social media accounts for Eureka Springs, a very diverse and eclectic town in Northern Arkansas.

Although I do not have my own personal business yet, or fully manage someone else’s, I was able to learn a lot that I will be able to use when those moments arise. jackieprsa

One of the most interesting topics she talked about was how Instagram “takeovers” can enhance the exposure of the account and increase interaction with followers.

I’ve heard of these types of takeovers before, but they are usually done by celebrities trying to promote their new movie or something along those lines. The idea that regular people like you and I could “takeover” the account of our city/town or even just a local business for a day is awesome!

Of course, Ms. Wolven sets parameters for the takeovers so that they don’t post something that is out of line with the brand. For the most part though, she allows them to post pictures, or videos of what they find interesting about their town (Eureka Springs).

Overall my experience at the NWA PRSA meeting went very well, I felt like I learned a lot, and I was able to meet many different PR pros that work in a variety of PR fields.

The official first day of summer is not until the 20th but wow…I think summer has already shown AT BLOG GRAPHICup.  I’m not complaining though because pool season is my favorite season of all.  I could do without the hot car seats though.

I’ve had another great week of client work and meetings.  I’m in Batesville today at orientation with my son…learning all about his new future home.  (sigh)

Here are the favorite items I picked for you this week.

What is Snapchat?

What Is Snapchat-Snapchat has become one of the most talked about and used social media platforms over the past few months. It started out being most popular with millennials, but has gained popularity recently with Gen Xers and businesses.
While there are a lot of people who use Snapchat, not many fully understand all of its capabilities. (Some people..cough cough parents…still think its used for sexting) and that is totally not the case!
Over the next few weeks I will share a few tips that I’ve found that make the experience of the app much better.
The History: Evan Spiegel and Reggie Brown created and launched Snapchat originally as “Pictaboo” with their friend Bobby Murphy in the summer of 2011.
After Murphy left over monetary disputes, Brown and Spiegel changed the name officially to Snapchat in the fall of 2011. By the following spring, Snapchat had grown to over 100,000 users. From that moment on Snapchat began to grow into one of the most used, and interesting platforms on social media.
The Basics: Snapchat is an app where people can send pictures or videos back and forth with friends or family and after they view them the picture/video “disappears.”
Snapchat users can also:
  • post pictures/videos to their story
  • send personal text messages to friends
  • share fun emojis
  • use different lenses on their camera
  • add geotags (a fancy way to share your location)
IMG_6619A person’s story is much like a Facebook or Instagram feed. Meaning you can post different pictures or videos to your story and all of your followers can view it. But…there’s a catch! The pictures and videos only last for 24 hours, so you better check it regularly!

With all of these fun ways to send pictures and videos, its no wonder Snapchat generates around 9,000 snaps per second!

AT BLOG GRAPHICHey friends…I’m back! Did you miss me? With graduation festivities and Memorial Day…I had to let something fall off the plate.

I’m so sick of rain…I know it’s good for our water tables (or something like that) but seriously, the pools are open and there’s not been one day worthy of a pool side visit.  (sigh)

Since it’s been two weeks since my last favorites…get ready for a few more than normal.  Have a great week!

☞ I LOVE a summer book list.

This is your 13 year old on social media…just mind blowing.

Meet Jasmine…Summer Intern

image2Hello all! My name is Jasmine Conley, I am interning with The Twiggs Group this summer.

I was born and raised in Fayetteville, AR along with my six younger brothers who range from 18 all the way to 1. I love to spend time with them when I am home, and support them at their many different sporting events.

I am currently a junior at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and majoring in Public Relations with a minor in marketing. I am a member of the school’s PRSSA chapter and the chairwomen for our publicity team, as well as the Social Media Correspondent.

I started college as a Physical Therapy major, but quickly realized that was not the field I needed to be in. While I do enjoy athletic training and learning the science behind the human body, science was not my strongest field.

When it came time to pick a new major, I knew that I loved to write and use my creativity to help people come up with solutions. I wasn’t sure if there was a major that fit these interests, but once I found out that my school offered Public Relations, I knew that’s where I belonged.

Switching my major to PR was one of the best decisions I’ve made in college, and I love that I am able to learn something new about the field every day.

After I went on my first agency tour with PRSSA I realized how important internships were, and I began to research and apply to many different agencies and companies in Central Arkansas as well as Northwest Arkansas.

I chose to work with The Twiggs Group, because I felt I would be able to receive more hands on experience with clients and other tasks than I would at a big agency.

To me, interning is a chance to take all that you’ve learned in school and actually apply it to the real world and see what works best for you, and what doesn’t. This is my first internship, and I am so excited to apply what I have learned thus far, as well as learn new things that will help me in my future classes, and business endeavors.

Throughout this summer I will be posting about different topics as well as various social media tips. One of my main focuses will be Snapchat and how to keep up with all of their updates, and how to use it to its fullest potential.

Talk soon!

AT.com Blog graphicHappy Friday the 13th, folks! I hope today brings you lots of good fortune.

No one tells you the crazy town that is preparing for your child’s high school graduation…maybe the universe is keeping me busy on purpose.  Less tears that way!

I had a great week of client meetings and I spoke on a panel about social media…one of my favorite subjects.

Here’s what I found just for you…

☞ Working from home is great…but challenging.

☞ I just refreshed my website…glad to not have one of these issues.

☞ This article got me fired up about the inequality in women’s sports.

☞ Want to make things pretty but you are not a graphic designer…here’s a few apps for that.

Have a great weekend, friends!

While I am certainly grateful for all the rain, (spring showers bring spring flowers) I am really TTG SMM (1)missing the sun.  There’s something about getting a little warm sun on your face to make your day that much better.

In honor of International Women’s Day…you might see a theme running through my favorite picks. Here’s to a few interesting items for you to enjoy and to a weekend that will hopefully bring us a little sunshine.

PS: We get to spring forward this weekend! Hooray!
