What I do need is time…time with my girlfriends.

Experiences over gifts

I don’t know about you, but one of the big things that always stresses me out around Christmas time is buying gifts for my girlfriends. Because let’s face it, gift giving is hard. Especially when your girlfriends either already have what they need or would much rather pick out what they want. 🤷 Truthfully, we already have everything we could ever possibly want. Although that mug with the cute message is fun, none of us need another mug, another journal, or another t-shirt! I don’t need it, and I’m pretty sure you don’t either. What I do need is time…time with my girlfriends. Time to talk, time to listen, time to connect, and time to experience something fun and new together.

So, with that in mind, I thought it might be fun to give you some ideas for Christmas experiences instead of another gift guide filled with “things” we don’t need. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some gifts, but I want to do something different this year. Are you with me? Here is my Christmas experience guide.

A classic chick flick.

I love to go to the movies. Well, let me clarify, I LOVE movie popcorn with M&Ms. If there’s a good movie showing, that’s just a bonus! I love to grab a girlfriend for a matinee or weeknight movie to see the latest chick flick. Unfortunately, we don’t really get to talk much in the movie, so I like to drive home together to dissect the movie or even meet before the movie for dinner.

And let me tell you, the AMC app, where I get to choose my recliner, has changed my life! It’s the only way I’ll do movies now.  Also, there are some really good movies coming up that you’ll want to grab your girlfriend and see: Charlie’s Angels, Bombshell (Charlize Theron is unrecognizable!), and Little Women!

Happy hour is a must.

Happy Hour is my favorite hour of the day, and at Christmas time, I get to pair up my two loves…happy hour and Christmas decorations! Holidaze (brought to you by the folks at Maxine’s) is a vintage Christmas Bar pop-up in Fayetteville just for the month of December. In Bentonville, UnderCroft has transformed into a Christmas Bar as well. Honestly, this is what we didn’t know we needed! Grab your gals and meet over fun drink selections and holiday decor.

Check out all the Christmas decor

Speaking of Christmas decor…I also love the Christmas Lights on the square in Fayetteville. Why not grab your BFF and head to the lights in your town and do a photo shoot with each other? The lights are magical and create awesome bokeh effects. If a photo shoot is not your style, run through Starbucks for hot chocolate (or coffee for you coffee addicts!), and drive around with your bestie to look at lights and talk.

Take a fun class together and learn something new.

Finally, do something fun or learn something together. For example, take a wreath-making class like they have at our local florist shop, Pigmint. You have fun making the wreath together and you get something cute for your home. Win-win! And if you suck at wreath making (like I’m sure I would), your friend is there to laugh with (at) you.

What about you?

Have something that you and your girlfriends do around Christmas? Let me know so I can add it to my Christmas experience guide!
