I felt compelled to create a list of intentions for my 47th trip around the sun. A further reminder to enjoy the little things and to spend time with people who lift me up and bring abundance into my life.

Why I make intentions, not resolutions

Ok, I’m going to be honest here. I’m not really good at setting New Year’s resolutions. But to be fair, I don’t think anybody is. I mean, helloooo, does anyone else notice the drastic gym attendance drop after January? For this reason, I typically like to set intentions for the year. January 1 is an obvious fresh start and offers a clean slate, so it’s nice to set intentions for the year and get the year started right.

In the same way, I set intentions for my birthday because it’s a new year of me. It’s another year of life filled with the things I love, so I want to make sure I’m making every intention to live it to the fullest. But before I set my intentions, I make a to-do list for the week of my birthday. My birthday was last month (July), and I decided to create a birthday week checklist. It’s a list of fun things I wanted to do the week leading up to my actual birthday. I made this list to ensure I celebrate my birthday fully and to make sure I started off the year right!

I enjoyed marking the tasks off my list (I mean, let’s be honest, I love checking anything off a to-do list) because it was a list compiled of the things that make me happy, especially intentionally spending time with the people I love. This list was a catalyst for my intentions. When my birthday finally arrived, I felt compelled to create another list of intentions for my 47th trip around the sun. A further reminder to enjoy the little things and to spend time with people who lift me up and bring abundance into my life.

Here are my birthday intentions:

Enjoy Spencer’s basketball season

Spencer had to sit last year due to the NCAA transfer rule, but this year, he’s ready to go! And so am I.

Continue the work on loving my body just the way she is

I’ve spent way too many years feeling shame about my body, and I’m working hard to let this go. This body of mine has never let me down: she played college basketball and birthed a baby. She’s amazing, and it’s time I treated her that way.

Keep doing work that I love and growing TTG

Year 5 and so far it’s the best year yet! I look forward to even more growth.

More walks with the dogs

More everything with the dogs! Let’s be honest, dogs make everything better.

Support my fabulous friends in their journey

I have a few friends who are KILLING it right now, and I am so excited to be a part of their journey!

Keep manifesting magic in my life

All day, every day!

Unplug more and compare less

I’m tempted every day to get off social media for good!

Read more books that inspire me

Check out my list!

Vote for candidates that give a damn about all human beings

THIS! Be informed and vote, my friends! It’s important.

Meditate more

Loving my Calm app!

Say no to people and situations that drain my joy

I feel like I’m an expert in saying no, and I’m going to keep it up!

Love abundantly

Love love love, always.

What are your intentions?

This list of intentions will motivate me to live my 47th year intentionally ? Do you write birthday intentions or New Year intentions? I’d love to know what is on your list!
